Florida Int. knocks off Middle Tennessee 38-28

MIAMI (AP) -- Alex McGough threw for a career-high 231 yards and three touchdowns as Florida International came back to beat Middle Tennessee 38-28 on Saturday.

Jonnu Smith pulled in eight passes for 140 yards and all three touchdowns.

Middle Tennessee lost two fumbles and was intercepted twice. The Blue Raiders jumped out to an early lead and were ahead 21-17 at the half. The last two quarters belonged to Florida International (4-7, 3-4 Conference USA) as the Golden Panthers outscored Middle Tennessee 21-7.

Davison Colimon intercepted an Austin Grammer pass, returning it 79 yards for a score and a 31-21 lead with 7:24 remaining in the game.

Middle Tennessee (5-5. 4-2) answered when Jeremiah Bryson scored from the 10 to close to 31-28 with 6:17 left. The Golden Panthers responded with an 11-play, 85-yard drive, capped by Anthon Samuel's 2-yard scoring plunge.

Grammer threw for 286 yards and three touchdowns.
