BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) -- Pablo Bertone scored a career-high 31 points and powered a breakaway run in the second half as Florida Atlantic defeated Central Florida 75-64 on Tuesday night.

Bertone's 31 matched the most by an FAU player since Greg Gantt scored 31 last February. Bertone scored 10 of his points in a 13-2 run in the second half to break open a game that had seen three ties and eight lead changes to that point.

Bertone hit a jumper to give the Owls (2-6) the lead back at 39-38, scored three more baskets and a pair of free throws wrapped around a Javier Lacunza 3-pointer as FAU took a 50-41 lead in about three minutes. Jackson Trapp added 13 points for the Owls and Marquan Botley 11.

Isaiah Sykes scored a season-high 23 points for Central Florida (3-3), and Calvin Newell added 18.
