Filly Miss Temple City pulls upset in Maker's 46 Mile

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) Miss Temple City pulled past Heart to Heart in the stretch to win the $300,000 Maker's 46 Mile at Keeneland on Friday, becoming the first filly to win the Grade 1 race for older horses.
The 4-year-old daughter of Temple City gave trainer Graham Motion his first victory in the race by taking aim at Heart to Heart in the stretch and battling before pulling away for a 1 1/4-length victory. Miss Temple City improved to 10-4-3-2 lifetime with her first graded stakes win that earned $180,000.
With Drayden Van Dyke aboard for his first Keeneland stakes win, Miss Temple City ran a mile on the firm turf in 1:34.09 and paid $14.60, $6.60 and $3.80. Heart to Heart returned $4.40 and $3.20, and Tourist paid $3 to show.
