ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Bellamentary won the $75,000 Angels Flight Stakes for 3-year-old fillies by 2 1/4 lengths Sunday at Santa Anita.

Ridden by Martin Garcia, Bellamentary ran seven furlongs in 1:22.10 and paid $8.80, $4 and $3.20. She earned her first stakes win for trainer Phil D'Amato.

Forever Darling returned $4.40 and $3.20, while Kay Kay was another 1 1/4 lengths back in third and paid $5.80 to show.

Lucky Folie, the 6-5 favorite, finished fifth in the eight-horse field.

The victory, worth $47,400, increased Bellamentary's career earnings to $135,400, with three wins in five starts.

Bellamentary broke from the far outside, was second around the far turn and took over approaching the quarter pole.

''I had the best post and I got the best trip,'' said Martin Garcia, who was aboard the filly for the first time in a race. ''I've worked her a couple times and she's getting more mature and she's blossomed. Turning for home, I had a lot of confidence and I had a lot of horse.''
