Fantasy Basement: Week 11

Fantasy Basement: Week 11

Published Nov. 12, 2014 3:06 p.m. ET

The Fantasy Basement is a weekly piece that provides fantasy advice on lineup calls, sleepers, waiver-wire moves and rookie spotlights, along with the occasional ramble or two. Why “Fantasy Basement” you ask? There is a common belief that sports writers dwell in their childhood cellars, that the institution promotes arrested development. Um…why is that such a bad thing? Who wouldn’t enjoy coming home to fresh-baked cookies and having their laundry done?…Anyway, enjoy!

- That the Saints back was started in only 60 percent of FOXSports.com leagues last week despite 272 yards and three touchdowns in his previous two outings.

- Ingram’s possible production in the ensuing weeks against feeble rush defenses like Cincinnati (second-worst in the NFL), Chicago, Carolina, Tampa Bay and Atlanta.

- The thought of Andy Dalton attempting to bounce-back from last Thursday’s historic blunder in one of the more hostile environments in the league. Spoiler Alert: it will not end well.

“Why do you rank LeSean McCoy high when he’s been a bust?”

As you can tell, the mailbag was pretty light this week. Dave certainly has a point, and he’s far from alone in wondering about McCoy’s preeminent rank. While he’s been a major disappointment, I still think McCoy has the potential, especially with Nick Foles sidelined for the next two months, to fulfill that standing. It is disconcerting that he’s been absent in the Eagles’ receiving game, and his red-zone troubles are bewildering. However, he’s still averaging 71.2 rushing yards a game and has a cakewalk of a schedule in the second half. If he falls flat against Green Bay, then we can revisit this conversation.

Anyway, for all his faults, McCown has the chance to post decent numbers against a dreadful Washington defense that ranks 30th in fantasy scoring against quarterbacks. Mentioned above, Romo is the only roto-relevant QB on Bye, but for deeper leagues or two-QB leagues, McCown will be a valuable stock, if only for this week.
