The Detroit Lions are on the clock.
The Lions have been rumored to be interested to trade into the top 5 to select either Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins or Texas A&M wide receiver Mike Evans. While the team would love to add another game-changing playmaker opposite Calvin Johnson, reaching for one at this point in this scenario wouldn’t be justified.
The Lions have holes in other areas. Left tackle is stable with Riley Reiff, but they could use an upgrade on the right side. Having two bookend tackles would do a service for quarterback Matthew Stafford and Co. The other scenario? The Lions could beef up their defense up front or a ball-hawking safety on the backend. So, Who should the Lions select with the No. 10 overall pick?

Michigan OT Taylor Lewan
Lewan had a decorated career in Ann Arbor, including being named a two-time All-American. The 6-foot-7, 309-pound tackle has very good balance and tremendous length. Lewan can easily be a 10-year starter and has been compared to Patriots offensive lineman Nate Solder.
Notre Dame OT Zack Martin
Martin started 52 games at Notre Dame, which is a school record. He’s light on his feet and very athletic for his 6-foot-4, 308-pound frame. Adding Martin would give the Bills a very dependable lineman.
Pittsburgh DT Aaron Donald
Donald was named a first-team All-American last season and his draft stock has continued to rise. The 6-foot-1, 285 pound defensive tackle is quick off the snap and plays with great power. While the Lions have a solid duo up the middle with Nick Fairley and Ndamukong Suh, the Lions opted to not pick up the fifth-year option on Fairley’s deal has opened up the idea of them selecting Donald.
Alabama FS Ha Ha Clinton-Dix
The safety position was upgraded when the Lions acquired James Ihedigbo via free agency. Now, they have the opportunity to finally turn a weakness into a strength. Adding Clinton-Dix gives the Lions someone with great range, who can also help in run support.
UCLA OLB Anthony Barr
Caldwell has said that the team is looking for a pass-rushing outside linebacker. Could Barr be that guy? Mayhew met with Barr before his pro day and the team has done its homework on the 6-foot-4, 240-pounder. He has the natural bend and athleticism to play multiple positions on the field.
