Evans named A-10 Player of the Week

Saint Louis junior forward Dwayne Evans, who posted double-doubles in victories against Saint Joseph’s and George Washington, has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week, the league announced today.
 
Evans averaged 21.5 ppg and 12.0 rpg last week as the Billikens extended their winning streak to 11 games. Against St. Joe’s, he poured in a team-high 21 points and pulled down 12 boards. In addition, he posted three blocks and three steals in leading the Bills to the 70-53 victory.
 
At George Washington, Evans once again led the way with 22 points and 12 rebounds. He set a career high with four steals in the Billikens’ 66-58 win.
 
For the week, he shot 48.1 percent (13-27) from the field and 85 percent (17-20) from the free-throw line.
 
Evans leads the Billikens (23-5, 12-2 A-10) with 12.6 ppg and 7.2 rpg. SLU has a one-game lead over VCU in the regular-season standings heading into the final week. The Billikens play at Xavier Wednesday at 8 p.m. (CT), then host La Salle at Chaifetz Arena in the regular-season finale Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
