Ethiopian runners sweep top spots at Dubai Marathon

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) Ethiopian runners have swept the top spots of the Dubai Marathon.
The race, held Friday in the city-state of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, saw Tesfaye Abera Dibaba cross the finish line first with a time of 2:04:24, his personal best. Lemi Berhanu Hayle followed nine seconds later and Tsegaye Mekonnen Asefa came in third.
Among women competitors, Tirfi Tsegaye Beyene finished first with a time of 2:19:41.
Thousands took part in the 42-kilometer (26.1-mile) race, which took competitors past the iconic Burj Al Arab hotel and near Dubai's man-made Palm Jumeirah island.
