DHAKA, Bangladesh (AP) Ben Stokes hit his maiden century as England racked up 309-8 in the first one-day international against Bangladesh on Friday.

Stokes, who was dismissed on 101, rescued England from a shaky 63-3, combining for a 153-run partnership with Ben Duckett.

Duckett became the 21st English batsman to score a half-century on debut as he made 60 under huge pressure.

As they set a platform, stand-in captain Jos Buttler utilized it to good effect, smashing 63 off 38. His attacking knock helped England score 89 runs in the last 10 overs.

Fast bowlers Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Shafiul Islam, and left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan claimed two wickets apiece.
