End of Rip era?
It hasn't happened yet, but it appears to be a matter of when, not if, Rip Hamilton will be traded.
Before we say goodbye to Hamilton, it's worthwhile to look back on his career with the Pistons.
It's hard to believe it was Sept. 11, 2002, when the Pistons sent fan favorite Jerry Stackhouse along with Brian Cardinal and Ratko Varda to Washington for Hamilton, Hubert Davis and Bobby Simmons.
Hamilton was just 24 and best known for his heroics in the NCAA Tournament with the University of Connecticut. He scored 27 points, helping UConn beat Duke for the 1999 NCAA title, earning Most Outstanding Player honors.
As an NBA player, his claim to fame before the trade was probably just playing with Michael Jordan.
All of that changed when Hamilton arrived in Detroit, the same year point guard Chauncey Billups signed as a free agent.
In his first season, Hamilton started all 82 regular-season and 17 playoff games, leading the team in scoring with 19.7 points in the regular season and 22.5 points in the postseason
