Emily Austen named new on-air reporter for Tampa Bay Rays television broadcasts

TAMPA, Fla. (Feb. 21, 2015) -- FOX's Sun Sports, the statewide television home of the Tampa Bay Rays, today announced Emily Austen has joined its roster of Rays on-air talent for the 2015 season. In her new role, Austen will serve as the in-game reporter on Rays' television broadcasts this season, as well as host of select "Inside the Rays" episodes. Austen will make her television debut during Spring Training on Thursday, March 26, when the Rays face the New York Yankees on Sun Sports.

Currently, Austen serves as digital host and reporter for the Boston Celtics. Since joining the Celtics in 2013, Emily has covered daily practices and games, the NBA Draft, off-season workouts, summer league and more. She is also the host of the team's pregame show on Celtics.com.

From 2012 through 2013, Emily worked as a sports anchor/reporter for KAMR NBC 4/KCIT Fox 14 in Amarillo, Texas. During her time there, she also co-anchored Fox 14's 'The Locker Room' for Friday Night Football, shot sporting events and interviews, edited features and highlights and produced daily sports segments. Prior to moving to Texas, Emily worked for the Golf Channel in Orlando, Florida as a production assistant. In addition to assisting in daily show production, Emily produced feature stories for the network.

A Tampa native and graduate of local Gaither High School, Austen attended Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton where she received a B.A. in Communication- Multimedia Journalism and a minor in Spanish. Follow her on Twitter: @emilyausten_
