Embattled HS coach, player leave team
Rittman High School found itself in the news earlier this week when a student was suspended from northeast Ohio school and the football team for criticizing the football team and head coach in a poem.
Our first story generated nearly 500 comments and reactions from both sides, and the fallout continued Friday as
according to FOX 8 in Cleveland that Rittman head coach Bill Dennis resigned after deciding the controversy over the poem had become a distraction for the team.
In addition to the coach's exit, FOX 8 reported Dennis' son, Blake, left the team. Blake Dennis is a two-star wide receiver according to Scout.com and an Akron verbal commit.
Both father and son were among the subjects of the poem by Nick Andre, who wrote it to satisfy a school assignment.
According to FOX 8, Andre's suspension was lifted by the district superintendent Thursday.
