MIAMI (AP) -- Dwyane Wade was excused from Miami's home game against Utah on Thursday night because one of his sons was admitted to a hospital for undisclosed reasons.

The team did not specify which of Wade's sons had fallen ill, or divulge any other information other than the child is expected to be fine. Wade was expected to release a statement later Thursday.

It's the first game Wade has missed this season. The Heat are also without Wade's backup at shooting guard, with Gerald Green serving the last of his two-game suspension on Thursday for conduct detrimental to the team after an incident at his apartment building last week.
