Ducks' Gibson takes home NHL Rookie of the Month award for December
The Ducks have experienced a bit of a turnaround since their slow start thanks to goalie John Gibson's stellar play. And now the netminder is being recognized for his efforts.

Gibson was named the NHL's Rookie of the Month for December. He joins Edmonton Oilers center Conor McDavid (October) and Detroit Red Wings center Dylan Larkin (November) as Rookie of the Month award winners this season.
In December, Gibson backstopped the Ducks to a 5-3-1 record including back-to-back 1-0 road shutouts for the first time in franchise history. Posting three shutouts in his 10 appearances for the month, Gibson flashed the pads to the tune of a .929 save percentage and platry 1.62 goals against average.
The Ducks and Gibson are in the midst of an eight-game homestand at Honda Center. They'll take the ice against the Maples Leafs on Wedneday on FOX Sports West at 6:30p.
