DraftKings MLB Picks: Top Bargain plays for September 15th (7:00 PM Only)
Finding value is the ever so elusive, “Holy Grail” in Fantasy Baseball. Making cap room for pitchers and big bats can make all the difference in a lineup. With a little elbow grease in the research department, I’m hoping to offer a handful of players that could give critical salary relief for tonight’s DraftKings MLB picks.
While the bargain plays on Seattle turned out to be duds, Houston’s George Springer and Evan Gattis were able to carry the load last night. Tonight’s slate offers eight games, with the Dodgers having the best team projection at 5.6 runs. Coming in just after the Dodgers, would be the Cubs (5.6), the Blue Jays (4.9), and the Royals (4.9). There aren’t many players that stand out as obvious bargains, but there are a few that could provide a fair combination of salary relief and upside.

Mike Montgomery – CHC (P) – $4700
The Cubs are heavy favorites tonight at -200, vs. the Brewers. Milwaukee is only projected to score 3.7 runs and Mike Montgomery is outrageously under priced. He may not actually be a good or even decent pitcher, but at $4700, in this spot, he’s almost a lock to return value. He currently holds a K/9 of 8.89 and when adding this in with the Brewers high strikeout rate, he should be able to secure a few strikeouts. I’ll have loads of Montgomery as the pitching options aren’t all that appealing tonight.

Chase Utley – LAD (2B) – $3600
As mentioned, the Dodgers have the best projection tonight, and Chase Utley should benefit from the elevated team total. Utley is in a good match up as he faces the righty, Archie Bradley. Utley holds a .315 wOBA split against righties.
Andres Blanco – PHI (2B/3B) – $3200
Andres Blanco is fairly under priced on DraftKings and is in a decent spot to get on base and return value. The switch hitter will face a righty tonight, here he holds a .343 wOBA and a .184 ISO split. I wouldn’t expect Blanco to turn any heads, but I think he’s a viable option to produce enough for his price.
Russell Martin – TOR (C) – $3800
Toronto has one of the higher projection on the slate at 4.9 runs, and Martin is in a good match up vs. a righty. Martin has reverse splits against righties, where he holds a .331 wOBA and a .193 ISO split. Martin has significant home run upside while still being priced below $4000.
Note: Keep in mind that recommended DraftKings MLB picks are based off of early information and will be subject to change as lineups are released. Some cheaper players are more suspect to be scratched from the lineup or bumped down the lineup order.
