Dozier, Twins racking up extra-base hits

The Minnesota Twins have some recent history on their side heading into a three-game series with the Cleveland Indians.
The Twins are 8-5 against Cleveland this season and 20-12 over the last two seasons, their best record against a single team over that span.
Meanwhile, the Indians' offense has been anemic over the past few weeks. Cleveland has been held to one run over fewer in six of their last seven games.
Minnesota will look to capitalize by staying fast on the base paths.
The Twins have one of the league's largest year-over-year increases in stolen bases in the majors from 2015 to 2016, and have already surpassed last year's total.
Largest increases in stolen bases, 2015 to 2016
Team | 2015 | 2016 | Diff |
Brewers | 84 | 147 | +63 |
Nationals | 57 | 91 | +34 |
Padres | 82 | 108 | +26 |
Indians | 86 | 104 | +18 |
Twins | 70 | 80 | +10 |
That speed has also led to plenty of extra-base hits for the Twins, who rank second in the American League with a combined 269 doubles and triples.
Combined doubles and triples, 2016
Team | 2B | 3B | Total |
Red Sox | 284 | 23 | 307 |
Twins | 238 | 31 | 269 |
Astros | 242 | 22 | 264 |
Indians | 237 | 22 | 259 |
Rays | 232 | 27 | 259 |
Brian Dozier has been leading the charge, and hit another double on Sunday, giving him hits in 32 of his last 35 games. It was Dozier's 30th double of the season, making him the only second baseman in franchise history to rack up 30 home runs and 30 doubles in the same season.
