Does Brad Keselowski like comparisons to Dale Earnhardt?
Over the course of almost five full seasons in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Brad Keselowski has garnered a reputation as a driver willing to ruffle feathers and knock a competitor out the way to send a message or advance his position.
This season, in particular, Keselowski has been right in the middle of multiple skirmishes -- some on the track, some off it -- and managed to invoke the anger of drivers Matt Kenseth, Denny Hamlin and Kurt Busch, among others.
Recently, Keselowski's no-holds-barred approach to his duties has led to a comparision between him and another driver who became famous not only for his talent and accomplishments but his willingness to rattle cages when he deemed it necessary to leave town with a trophy and a winner's check in hand.
That driver is none other than the late seven-time Sprint Cup champion, Dale Earnhardt -- otherwise known as The Intimidator.
"I understand why everyone wants to compare someone who is successful to Dale Earnhardt because of what he meant to this sport and because of his drive, intensity, large fan base," Keselowski said. "I'm OK with accepting the fact that there was only one and there won't be another one. And like I said earlier this week, it's a lot like music in that you can be influenced by another band, but we're still a different band and we still have our own codes."
