DENVER – Matt Kemp is unlikely to be activated from the disabled list this week, as he is scheduled to continue his rehabilitation at the Dodgers’ spring-training complex in Arizona.

Kemp will play in simulated games, which will allow him to take 10 to 12 at-bats per day.

“In a four-day period, you can get 40-something at-bats,” Manager Don Mattingly said. “That’s a good way to get his timing.”

Kemp opted to go to Arizona instead of remaining with Class-A Rancho Cucamonga for the California League playoffs. Kemp was 0 for 18 in a rehabilitation assignment with Rancho Cucamonga.

Mattingly didn’t know how long Kemp would remain in Arizona, but said he wouldn’t be activated until the outfielder felt ready to compete at the major league level.

As for Kemp’s left ankle, Mattingly reported no problems.

“The ankle seems to be holding up fine,” Mattingly said.
