Left guard Kris Dielman has retired because of concussions, but his impact was felt more than just between the lines for the Chargers. His biggest contribution was his work with the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation. It helped children left behind by military members and first-responders who were killed in the line of duty. Dielman worked tirelessly to raise funds for those youngsters, making sure they have money to attend college despite the ultimate sacrifice their parent made.
"That's a part people don't realize about him, and he keeps that quiet," said Hardwick, the godfather to one of Dielman's sons. "That is just how he operates. He doesn't need people to know how good of a guy he is, but he really is a good guy."
