Despite report, ASU still looking for RB coach

Contrary to a Friday night report, Arizona State has not hired Chris Thomsen to replace Larry Porter as its running backs coach, and coach Todd Graham continues to interviews candidates, an athletic department spokesman said Saturday.

CoachingSearch.com reported late Friday that Graham had hired Thomsen, who was also part of Graham's initial staff in Tempe briefly before leaving to coach the offensive line at Texas Tech. Thomsen became interim coach at Texas Tech when Tommy Tuberville left for the same position at Cincinnati led the Red Raiders to a win in the Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas.

The ASU spokesman said Saturday that no offer has been made to Thomsen or any other candidate and that the interview process is ongoing.

Porter was announced Wednesday as the new running backs coach at Texas after one season with ASU.
