OXNARD, Calif. -- Dallas Cowboys chief operating officer Stephen Jones said he wants the Cowboys to be a top 10 rushing team. New offensive coordinator Scott Linehan says he wants to lean more on DeMarco Murray and the run game.
But does Murray believe what he's hearing?
"I think you can say that," Murray said. "But you've got to do it. You can talk until you're blue in the face, but you've got to do it, see where the games are. Obviously if we're down a little bit we're not going to run the ball and vice versa. It all depends on how the game is going."
The stat most associated with Murray is that in his three seasons, the Cowboys are 11-0 when he carries at least 20 times.
But during that time, no NFL team has handed the ball off less. In those 48 games, the Cowboys averaged only 22.8 rushing attempts. San Francisco leads all teams over the last three seasons, averaging 31.1 rushing attempts per game.
But even fresh off his first Pro Bowl season, Murray says he isn't frustrated by the number of carries he has received in the past.
"I only get frustrated when we don't play well," Murray said. "That's the only time. I never get frustrated with the amount of carries or the touches I get. If we're winning, I'm a happy camper.
