Davis 3s key Xavier past Bowling Green 85-73 in OT
CINCINNATI (AP) -- Myles Davis sank two overtime 3-pointers as the Xavier Musketeers snapped a three-game losing streak with 85-73 win over Bowling Green on Saturday.
Davis broke a 69-69 tie with a 3-pointer from the right corner with 3:59 left in overtime and added another one from the same spot to give the Musketeers a 79-73 lead with 1:29 remaining before a crowd of 9,270. He scored eight of his 14 points as Xavier outscored Bowling Green, 17-5, in the overtime.
Semaj Christon led Xavier (6-4) with 22 points, while James Farr added a career-high 15. Isaiah Philmore also scored 15, 14 in the second half.
Bowling Green's Richaun Holmes scored a career-high 26 points to lead both teams. Jehvon Clarke and Anthony Henderson each added 13 points for the Falcons (3-5), who've lost two of their last three games.
After Henderson made one of two free throws with 15 seconds left for a 68-66 lead, Christon sank two free throws with 5.5 seconds left to tie the score, and Clarke missed a 3-pointer from the top of the key at the buzzer to force overtime.
Christon scored six unanswered points, four on a pair of spectacular dunks, to personally give Xavier a 54-46 lead with 9:12 left in the game. Bowling Green came back to cut the lead to three points, 54-51, but Philmore strung together his own personal 8-0 run to provide the Musketeers with a 62-51 advantage.
The Falcons came right back with a 13-2 run capped by Holmes' dunk and free throw that tied the game, 64-64, with 3:16 left in regulation. That play left Holmes with 19 points, surpassing the previous career high of 18 he set on Monday in Bowling Green's 74-62 win over Western Kentucky.
Farr put together a personal 7-0 run with a 3-pointer, a dunk and a layup to lift Xavier to its largest early lead, 29-21, with 4:45 left in the first half. The Falcons immediately responded by ending the half with a 12-0 run, including four points each from Henderson and Holmes, to enjoy their largest lead, 33-29, at halftime.
