
Daska, Desisa of Ethiopia win Boston Half Marathon

BOSTON (AP) Mamitu Daska broke the women's record in the Boston Athletic Association Half Marathon on Sunday and fellow Ethiopian runner Lelisa Desisa successfully defended his men's title.
Daska finished in 1 hour, 8 minutes, 20 seconds. Desisa, the Boston Marathon winner last year, won in 1:01:38.
The B.A.A. Half Marathon is the third and final event of the B.A.A. Distance Medley, a three-race series that opened with the B.A.A. 5K on April 19 and B.A.A. 10K on June 22.
The 30-year-old Daska earned $40,000. She pledged to donate $5,000 to The One Fund Boston in honor of the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.
