Dale Jr. remembers Boris Said's act of kindness at road course
One of the non-NASCAR regulars competing in this weekend's Sprint Cup and XFINITY Series races at Watkins Glen is Boris Said, a sports car racing veteran who has become one of NASCAR's most recognizable road "ringers" over the past two decades.
While Said has made a total of just 50 top series NASCAR starts since 1999, the 52-year-old from Stamford, Connecticut has quite the fan following thanks in large part to his can't-miss hairdo, which has led some fans who call themselves "Said-heads" to sport wigs bearing a striking resemblance to the man himself.
Since Said first made it a habit of running the Sprint Cup Series' two annual road-course events at Watkins Glen and Sonoma, along with typically entering a few XFINITY Series races each year on road courses, Said has graciously offered his road-course expertise to a few full-time Sprint Cup drivers along the way.
