Daily fantasy sports sites urge Nevada customers to petition state to let them play

LAS VEGAS -- The two titans of the daily fantasy sports world are out of Nevada after regulators there said the sites need gambling licenses, but DraftKings and FanDuel are now asking its Nevada customers to sign online petitions urging state lawmakers to legalize the contests in the state.

The sites are facing similar scrutiny and legal determinations in other states across the country.

DraftKings said in its email to customers it would work to ensure Nevada residents could play on the site again soon.

In Nevada, the Gaming Control Board says the sites constitute gambling, but they can operate in the state, just as long as they get a license that involves an intense background investigation of the companies and their leaders.
