D-backs' first alumni game set for Sept. 15
PHOENIX -- The Diamondbacks announced Friday the franchise's first-ever alumni game, to be played Sept. 15 after a home game against the San Francisco Giants.
The game highlights the team's Alumni Day festivities and is set to include a number of fan favorites including Matt Williams, the team's current third base coach, and Luis Gonzalez, who is now a special assistant to D-backs president Derrick Hall.
The day's events will begin before D-backs game with an on-field ceremony to introduce the former players in attendance. Also expected for the game are Steve Finley, Reggie Sanders, Tony Womack, Devon White, David Dellucci, Mike Fetters, Greg Swindell, Junior Spivey and others still to be determined.
As part of Alumni Day, the D-backs will wear the alternate purple jersey worn from 1998-2002 for their 5:10 p.m. game with the Giants.
