The Diamondbacks added to their pitching depth Friday by claiming pitcher Alex Sanabia off waivers from the Marlins.

The 25-year-old Sanabia was 3-7 with a 4.88 ERA in 55 1/3 innings over 10 starts with Miami this season. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list on May 27 with a strained right groin and missed the remainder of the season.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound right-hander went 8-10 with a 4.15 ERA in 138 2/3 innings over 28 games, all but four of them starts, in three seasons with the Marlins. He also went 31-30 with a 3.91 ERA 107 games, including 95 starts, in the minors. Sanabia was originally a 32nd-round pick of the Marlins in 2006.

The Diamondbacks' 40-man roster is now at 39.
