The Diamondbacks claimed left-handed pitcher Santos Rodriguez off waivers from the White Sox on Friday.

Rodriguez, 25, combined to go 2-0 with a 4.91 ERA with Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte in 2013. In 47 2/3 innings, he allowed 26 earned runs while striking out 61. He limited opponents to a .204 average and averaged 11.5 strikeouts per nine innings.

The 6-foot-6, 190-pounder has gone 11-10 with 21 saves, a 3.63 ERA and 368 strikeouts in 195 games in the Braves (2007-08) and White Sox (2009-13) organizations.

The Diamondbacks have Eury De La Rosa, Joe Paterson, Joe Thatcher and Matt Reynolds as left-handed relievers on the roster, although Reynolds is expected to miss all or most of the season while recovering from Tommy John surgery in September.

The D-backs' 40-man roster is now at 39 players, with pitchers and catchers scheduled to report for spring training on Feb. 6.
