Cyclones pull away from Wildcats, win 61-53

AMES, Iowa (AP) -- Kelsey Bolte scored 25 points and the No. 22 Iowa State Cyclones earned a 61-53 win over the Kansas State Wildcats on Sunday.

Bolte broke the 20-point mark for the ninth time in 10 conference games this season and was 12 of 12 from the free throw line as the Cyclones (17-7, 5-5 Big 12) shot 21 of 26 from the line as a team.

Jalana Childs led the Wildcats (16-7, 6-4) with 21 points and five rebounds. Brittany Chambers added 19 points.

Bolte scored eight of the Cyclones' first 16 points as Iowa State took an early 16-12 lead.

The Wildcats hung around in the first half taking a 19-18 lead, but an 11-2 run propelled the Cyclones to a 38-27 lead at halftime.

Both teams struggled to start the second half as Childs made the only field goal in the first five minutes.

Anna Prins added 10 points and Hallie Christofferson had eight points and 11 rebounds for the Cyclones.
