Coyotes sign winger Johnson away from Wild

The Coyotes on Thursday signed right wing Nick Johnson to a one-year, two-way contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 26-year-old Johnson set career highs in goals (eight), assists (18) and points (26) in 77 games with the Wild last season. In 87 career NHL games with Minnesota and Pittsburgh, Johnson has accumulated 10 goals and 21 assists.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Johnson also has 50 goals, 64 assists and a plus-46 rating in 169 career AHL games. He was originally drafted by the Penguins in the third round (67th overall) of the 2004 draft.
