Cowboys RB Randle seen joking with officers during arrest in video

IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle has said publicly that his recent shoplifting arrest is "the biggest mistake I've ever made in my life,'' and in issuing that statement he seemed contrite and embarrassed.

But a video from inside the Frisco City Jail after his arrest for stealing cologne and underwear shows a different side of Randle.

"If I give you $100, can you give me a massage?" Randle jokingly asks an officer, and later, after posing for his mug shot, asks about the quality of the photo.

Randle, in video obtained by CBS11, is shown dressed in an undershirt, casually resting his chin on the counter, and trying to use the phone against the wishes of an officer.

In the phone call he is allowed to make, he is apparently talking to his agent, explaining, "I got jammed up. I need an attorney ... so I can make it to practice tomorrow.''

Randle was booked and released, then issued an apology in the Cowboys locker room for his stealing from a Dillard's department store in Frisco, and shortly after that signed on for an endorsement deal with an underwear company. Randle was fined one week's pay by the Cowboys after being charged with a Class B misdemeanor, a penalty that was meant to enforce the seriousness of the matter ... a seriousness that Randle clearly did not grasp while in the custody of police.

"Hey,'' he asks an officer at one point, "is this going to be on the news, you think?"
