Cowboys' Murray listed as questionable, but so is Colts' Hilton

Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game with the Colts, but that's not the biggest injury news that came out Friday.

T.Y. Hilton, the Colts' leading receiver, did not practice Friday and was also listed as questionable by Indianapolis. Hilton, who has 82 catches for 1,345 yards and seven touchdowns, has not practiced all week with a hamstring injury. Players who do not practice for a week, even in a limited capacity, typically don't play the following Sunday.

If Hilton can't go, the Colts still have veteran Reggie Wayne. However, Wayne also missed practice Friday.

This apparently is similar to Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo taking Wednesdays off. Wayne's injury is officially listed as "rest" and he has taken days off before. It's a privilege afforded some accomplished veterans like Wayne.

As for Murray, he was once again a limited participant in practice Friday, just as he was on Thursday. The surgery earlier this week on the broken bone in his hand has allowed him to take part in individual drills but not team-oriented work.

It will likely be a gametime decision whether Murray plays. He's rushed for 1,687 yards in 2014 and is just 87 yards from breaking Emmitt Smith's franchise record for yards in a season.

There's a growing feeling among Cowboys observers that Murray will play on Sunday, although how much would still be a question. If Murray does play, it will be interesting if the Cowboys leave him in on passing downs since he would be required to jam pass rushers with his injured hand.

As for the other injured Cowboys, it's looking more and more like right tackle Doug Free will not play because of an injured ankle. Free has not practiced this week and is listed as doubtful. Jermey Parnell has done well filling in for Free in other instances this season.

Guard Zack Martin has also not practiced all week with an ankle injury, but his injury is not considered as severe as Free's and he is listed as questionable.

Defensive tackle Josh Brent is officially out for the game. Brent suffered a calf injury in his only appearance two weeks ago against the Bears, but the formerly suspended Cowboy's ailment is listed as "calf/personal" on the official report.

The good news for the Cowboys is that linebacker Rolando McClain returned to being a  full participant in practice Friday and is listed as probable for Sunday. McClain has been bothered by a knee injury and it's not unusual for him to miss practices and still play.
