Cowboys LB Carter likely out 10-14 days

IRVING, Texas - Cowboys linebacker Bruce Carter's Tuesday began at 9 a.m., but not with football.

"Rehab then, and all day," says Carter, who said doctors have told him his strained right quadriceps might need 10-14 days to heal, which likely eliminates him from Sunday's game against the Texans.

"It's just (about) how your body responds to it," said Carter, off to a fine start for 3-1 Dallas. "Some guys are different so hopefully my recovery time will be lot faster..."

Carter went down in the second half of the Cowboys' blowout of the Saints as he was chasing - and about to catch - running back Khiry Robinson during what became a 62-yard run.

"I felt like I got shot," said Carter, limping more noticeably on Tuesday than he was after the game. "I was opening up about to catch him and then just, 'Pow! Out of nowhere.'"

The Cowboys can use rookie Anthony Hitchens and strongside linebacker Kyle Wilber to help in Carter's absence, as they are candidates to join linebackers Rolando McClain and Justin Durant in the lineup.
