Cowboys CB Carr: There's always a reason for Valley Ranch chaos

Brandon Carr returned home to Michigan recently.

While visiting his former high school in Flint, Carr spoke with a reporter about playing in Dallas.

Carr, who is coming off his second season with the Cowboys, had a tough time with the switch to Monte Kiffin's 4-3 scheme. After starting strong, he struggled down the stretch, which began with a long day in Detroit where Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson caught 14 passes for 329 yards and a touchdown.

"Individually, this season was a learning process for me," Carr told MLive.com's Eric Woodyard. "I came to Dallas with high expectations, with a chip on my shoulder and a lot of things that I wanted to accomplish as well, and I'm still in the process of doing that, but being assigned each team's No. 1 option each and every week with little to no help.

"It's fine, because that's the type of games that you want when you grow up, but it was good because I learned a lot about myself."

Carr, 27, hasn't missed a start in his NFL career, playing in 96 consecutive games. After spending his first four seasons with Kansas City, Carr signed a five-year, $50 million contract with the Cowboys in March of 2012. Over the last two seasons, he has recorded six interceptions and broke up 23 passes.

Playing for the Cowboys has brought more attention on Carr than he experienced with the Chiefs. In Woodyard's story, he included five things Carr said you need to know about being a Cowboy.

One of the five: "There's always a rhyme and reason to all the chaotic things that go on inside Valley Ranch," Carr said.

Well, that's good to know.
