OXNARD, Calif. (AP) -- Training camp sure has changed for the Cowboys since Jason Garrett was a backup quarterback with Dallas.
The Cowboys had their first training camp practice Monday in California, with temperatures in the mid-60s. There was a one-hour walkthrough in the morning and practice in the afternoon.
Garrett remembers two-a-day practices in the Texas heat as a Cowboys player in the 1990s, specifically camps at St. Edward's University in Austin. The coach says the team would practice twice a day in full pads and that it was hot every day.
He said that was just the nature of the time. Garrett says none of the players liked it, but all benefited from it.
The Cowboys did win three Super Bowls in a four-year span.
