South Carolina's Connor Shaw is out indefinitely after taking a big hit in the first quarter against UCF on Saturday afternoon.
Shaw, a senior dual-threat quarterback, was injured on an option keeper when UCF linebacker Terrance Plummer hit him near his right shoulder, forcing a fumble and sending Shaw to the locker room. The Golden Knights also recovered the fumble.
Shaw returned to the Gamecocks' sideline without his pads and his arm in a sling. The initial diagnosis is a right shoulder sprain, although X-ray results have not been announced. Here's the video:
Shaw has accounted for 665 yards and six touchdowns passing this season while occasionally splitting time with junior Dylan Thompson, who replaced Shaw following the injury. Shaw also was hampered by a shoulder injury in 2012, suffering a hairline fracture in the season opener against Vanderbilt.
