Colts release WR Andre Johnson after one subpar season
INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Colts have released wide receiver Andre Johnson after one season with the team.
Johnson signed with the Colts during a big free agency push by the organization a year ago with high hopes of making it to the Super Bowl. The seven-time Pro Bowler played in all 16 games last season in Indy and had 41 receptions for 503 yards and four touchdowns -- hardly in keeping with his numbers as a Houston Texan.
In three games last year, Johnson had no receptions -- the most since he joined the league as the third overall draft pick by Houston in 2003. The last time he went a game without a catch was in 2005, his third of 12 seasons with the Texans.
With Houston, Johnson was a two-time All-Pro despite being the Texans' only real receiving threat.
