College Football preview podcast: Week 4
FOX Sports South's college football writers and guests offer a
weekly preview of the upcoming slate. This week, FOX Sports South
producer Kyle Payne joins the show to offer insight on Alabama-Texas
A&M, the Pac-12/Big 12 races and more. Here is the Week 4 preview,
featuring a few under-the-radar rivalry games and one showdown of ranked
West Coast programs:
Clemson at N.C. State (Thu.): This has
all the makings of a "Clemson Being Clemson" moment. N.C. State has
taken down Clemson and Florida State, respectively, in back-to-back
seasons. Can Tajh Boyd and the Tigers' high-powered offense avoid the
letdown game this time around?
Tennessee at Florida: Two
SEC teams in desperate need of a pick-me-up win following lackluster
outings. Will Jeff Driskel ever put the Gators on the right track
offensively?
Michigan State at Notre Dame: Can the
Spartans continue to win games despite a fruitless attack? The defense
has been spectacular — even outscoring its offense by a wide margin —
but is it enough to overcome the reigning BCS runner-ups?
Arizona State at Stanford:
As strange as it may sound, this is the only game on the docket
featuring two ranked opponents. David Shaw's Stanford program is one of
the nation's best in recent seasons. Can Arizona State stake its claim
in the Pac-12 race?
Auburn at LSU: Other than the
end-of-season Iron Bowl matchup against Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide,
is there a better statement opportunity for Gus Malzahn's Auburn
program? Probably not. However, LSU is riding a 28-game winning streak
in September home games — that's a tall task.
Jeff Driskel, Florida: Tennessee is not the biggest test, but it's an opportunity to get back on track following a rocky performance in Miami?
Kevin Hogan, Stanford: Where does the sophomore rank in the Pac-12's deep class of young QBs?
Alex Collins, Arkansas:
The frosh has posted back-to-back-to-back 100-yard games for the
Razorbacks. Can he do it again at Rutgers before the SEC slate picks up?
Kenny Guiton/Braxton Miller, Ohio State:
Will the Buckeyes really consider running a two-QB system? Florida
A&M could provide a convenient guinea pig. (Please let this happen,
Urban.)
