Chris Paul became the latest star athlete to wear an "I Can't Breathe" shirt.

Paul wore the black T-shirt under a black jacket to a postgame news conference Wednesday after the Clippers' 102-100 victory over Indiana.

"I think to each his own," Paul said. "Everybody may feel a (certain) way about anything."

Paul, who had his son, Chris, nearby in the press conference, explained the role athletes can have in sending a message.

"We all have a platform," Paul said. "Some people choose to use it in different ways. People do pay attention. I have kids of my own who I'm trying to teach about the world and the community and different things like that."

LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, college basketball teams and other athletes have worn the shirt following the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner, who were killed by police.

The words "I Can't Breathe" were the final ones spoken by Garner when he was in a chokehold.

Asked why he chose to wear it, Paul said: "Because I'm my own."
