CIF Southern Section basketball playoff pairings announced
The final pairings for the CIF Southern Section basketball playoffs were announced Sunday, one week after the Open Division brackets were released.
Division 1AA was affected most by the Open Division with its top eight teams being selected for the CIF Southern Section's premiere division.
As expected, Great Oak received the top seed in Division 1AA. The Wolfpack will host Rancho Verde in first round action on Friday. Village Christian, led by USC signee Bennie Boatwright, is the No. 2 seed. Tustin and Santa Margarita round out the rest of the top four seeds in the division.

Some of the teams on the bottom side of the bracket with Village Christian and Tustin are Oak Park, Calabasas, Long Beach Millikan and Renaissance Academy, who received consideration for the Open Division.
Beverly Hills, the No. 1 seed in Division 3A, received a first-round bye and will open up its 2015 postseason against the winner of Garey and Hoover who play Friday.
Perhaps the most intriguing division outside of the Open is Division 4AA. Crespi, the No. 1 seed, will play the winner of Pomona and Estancia who also play Friday.
Road-tested Alemany ready for Open Division
There are five Mission League teams in the division. Joining Crespi in the top half of the bracket is St. Francis and Sherman Oaks Notre Dame. Both received at-large berths.
On the bottom half is Chaminade, who was awarded the No. 3 seed, and Harvard Westlake, an at-large berth that will competing in the postseason for the last time under long time head coach Greg Hilliard, who announced he will be retiring at the end of the season -- his 30th as the school's head coach.
On the girls side, the top four seeds in Division 1AA are Windward, Etiwanda, Long Beach Millikan and Valencia. First-round games in girl's Divisions 1AA-2A are slated for Saturday. Girl's divisions 3AA-6 will tip-off Thursday.
