Chivas' Kennedy named to MLS All-Star team

CARSON, Calif. -- Major League Soccer announced today that Chivas USA's goalkeeper Dan Kennedy has been selected as a member of the 2012 MLS All-Star team. This is the first time in Kennedy's career that he has been selected to the squad.
"It's certainly a great thing for Dan," said Chivas USA Head Coach Robin Fraser. "He's worked extremely hard over the last 18 months and earned himself a spot with the [All-Star] team. It's a fitting tribute.
On Wednesday, July 25 at PPL Park in Chester, PA, the MLS All-Stars will take on European Champions Chelsea FC in the 2012 AT&T MLS All-Star Game, live on ESPN2, TeleFutura, and in Canada on TSN and RDS starting at 8:30 pm ET.
Kennedy, one of the League's top goalkeepers, stepped into the starting role early in the 2011 season and has not relinquished his position between the posts since for the Red-and-White. He was named team MVP last season and has shown no signs of slowing down this year, having played in every minute of each match thus far.
The Southern California native was selected by Chivas USA in the 2005 MLS Supplemental Draft after a stellar career at UC Santa Barbara. Before returning to the Rojiblancos in 2008, he began his career with the Puerto Rico Islanders of the United Soccer League's First Division from 2005 to 2006 before moving on to Chile's Municipal Iquique (Second Division).
