Charge acquire Cherry
The Canton Charge have acquired guard Will Cherry (6'1", 176, Montana) from the available player pool. In accordance with the move, the team has also waived guard Re'mon Nelson.
Cherry, 23, most recently played in NBA Summer League with the New Orleans Pelicans after enjoying four-year career at the University of Montana (2009-13). In 116 career collegiate games for the Grizzlies (104 starts), he averaged 12.8 points on .430 shooting with 3.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.3 steals in 30.7 minutes per game. He was named First Team All-Big Sky Conference three times, was the Big Sky Defensive Player of the year in 2011-12 and is seventh on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,484 points.
Nelson was originally signed via open tryouts entering training camp and played in 20 games for Canton this season, averaging 2.2 points on .298 shooting with 0.6 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 9.9 minutes per game. The Charge roster now stands at 11.
