Cash a finalist for Rangers manager opening
Indians bullpen coach Kevin Cash is one of three finalists for the Rangers manager's opening.
Cash, who interviewed last week, finished his career with the Rangers' Triple-A affiliate in Round Rock in 2011. He was an advance scout with the Blue Jays in 2012 and came to the Indians when Terry Francona was hired in 2013.
If Cash is hired, he would be the youngest manager in the Majors. He turns 37 on Dec 6.
The other finalists are Prates bench coach Jeff Banister and Tim Bogar, who was the interim manager for the final 22 games after Ron Washington resigned. Bogar also has ties to the Tribe, serving as the manager in Akron in 2006-07.
Indians first-base coach Sandy Alomar Jr. was a finalist for the Diamonbacks, which was filled by Chip Hale on Monday, and is also a candidate for the Twins' opening.
TRIBE FEST SLATED: The third annual Tribe Fest, presented by KeyBank, will be Jan. 24-25 at Progressive Field.
