Cardinals announce changes within baseball operations
ST. LOUIS -- Changes in the front office, amateur scouting and international operations marked some shuffling in the St. Louis Cardinals' baseball operations department, the team announced Thursday.
The front office promotions and new hires:
• Luis Morales promoted to director of international operations and administration.
• Matt Slater named special assistant to the general manager, player procurement.
• Matt Bayer promoted to manager of scouting analytics.
• Tyler Hadzinsky named amateur scouting coordinator/analyst.
• Emily Wiebe promoted to baseball operations analyst.
The amateur scouting staff promotions and new hires:
• Sean Moran promoted to national cross checker.
• Zach Mortimer promoted to Northeast regional cross checker.
• Stacey Pettis hired as area scout of Northern California.
• Jim Negrych hired as Northeast area scout.
• Chris Rodriguez hired as Pacific Northwest area scout.
The international operations promotions and new hires:
• Joe Almaraz promoted to international cross checker.
• Jose Leger hired as the team’s Latin American field and academy development coordinator.
• Alix Martinez hired as Dominican Republic area scout.
• Damaso Espino to serve as Latin American cross checker.
• Jose Gonzalez Maestre named Venezuela scouting supervisor.
