Cam Newton plays Santa for local students, homeless women and children
A lot of people in Charlotte, N.C., were treated to quite a surprise on Tuesday when Santa Claus came to drop off gifts.
Oh, and that Santa Clause was played by none other than Cam Newton, sans beard and red jacket.
Just one week after suffering two transverse fractures in his lower back as the result of a car accident, the Panthers quarterback, joined by teammates/elves Kelvin Benjamin and Joe Webb, visited local schools and homeless shelters to spread some holiday cheer.
According to the Charlotte Observer, Newton gave out more than $31,000 in gift cards, presents and clothing to students, teachers and homeless women and children.

On Wednesday, Newton made more news by returning to practice.
