Cactus League tour: Camelback Ranch
Camelback Ranch, spring training home of the L.A. Dodgers and Chicago White Sox, sits on 141 acres on the west side of the Valley at 111th Avenue and Camelback in Glendale. The stadium is the largest in the Cactus League, with 13,000 seats, 12 luxury suites, a party deck and 3,000 lawn seats situated among 141 acres of Sonoran style desert. The complex includes 13 full baseball fields and three half-fields.
The stands are generally not as packed as some of the other Cactus League stadiums, and the fans we spoke with said one of the appealing traits of Camelback Ranch is the room to spread out, the laid-back atmosphere and the friendliness of the employees.
This year Camelback Ranch made its first major renovations since opening in March 2009. The Montejo Patio is the newest addition on the first-base side above the lawn seats. It features a bar, open covered seating and an open view of the playing field. The patio gets its name from the Mexican lager beer that is featured at the bar.
