Busch one win away from TMS sweep
FORT WORTH, Texas -- Kyle Busch isn't in the Chase anymore but that isn't going to keep Busch from trying to wreck everyone's party at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend.
Busch, who won the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race Friday night, made it 2 for 2 at TMS Saturday by winning the O'Reilly Auto Parts Challenge in the Nationwide Series.
Busch, who also won the first two events at TMS in the fall of 2009, will try to complete the sweep Sunday in the AAA Texas 500.
"It would be real special, certainly at another venue," said Busch, who pulled off the triple at Bristol in 2010. "The opportunity would be something special. I would cherish it as much as the first. You don't get very many opportunities to capitalize on all three."
Busch, who will start ninth Sunday, now has 70 wins in the Nationwide Series and provided Joe Gibbs Racing with its 100th all-time win.
Busch beat Joey Logano, who was the only driver through threatened him, by 1.562 seconds. Point leader Chase Elliott finished fourth and his series lead is now 45 points with two races remaining. Busch led 116 of the 200 laps and Logano led. No other driver led more than 15 (Trevor Bayne).
Logano, who is in the Chase, knows Busch will be tough to beat Sunday. Busch has won 11 times at TMS in his career and has momentum on his side.
"You can't count him out when he comes to Texas," Logano said. "Obviously that momentum will carry over. There's a lot of competition in the Cup series that will want to keep that from happening."
