Evan Turner never had a triple-double in his career before registering three in his last 21 games.
Another player known for such a feat is his former teammate Michael Carter-Williams, a Massachusetts native who is no doubt hoping his past success in his home state will help him finally earn a road win with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Turner can lead the Celtics to a third straight win Friday night as they try to hand Carter-Williams' Bucks a 12th straight road defeat.
These point guards were teammates with Philadelphia for part of last season and will start against each other for the first time in a contest that figures to be intriguing because of the matchup problems each presents.
Turner had 13 points, 12 assists and 11 boards in Wednesday's 100-87 home win over Indiana. His three triple-doubles since the All-Star break trail only Russell Westbrook's eight.
"I think he plays in a lineup where he has the ball a lot and he has probably never had the ball that much before, as far as playing the point," coach Brad Stevens said.
Carter-Williams also has three triple-doubles, though all of his came before Milwaukee (37-38) acquired him Feb. 19 from the 76ers.
The Bucks are 6-12 with Carter-Williams in their lineup, though he showed signs of life in Wednesday's 95-91 victory over Chicago with 21 points and 10 rebounds thanks to his 6-foot-6 frame.
"He was a mismatch down there the whole game," forward John Henson said. "They didn't have a guy with size that could guard him and that led us to the win."
Milwaukee hasn't won on the road since an 82-75 victory over Toronto on Feb. 2, going 0-8 in Carter-Williams' road starts. A native of Hamilton, Massachusetts, Carter-Williams is 2-0 in his career at Boston.
The Bucks have captured three of their last four visits to Boston, and their 96-93 home win over the Celtics on Feb. 7 doesn't translate much to this game since Brandon Knight was Milwaukee's starting point guard and Boston had a healthy Jared Sullinger.
Boston (34-41) didn't have an injured Kelly Olynyk in that contest due to a sprained ankle. The 7-footer scored 19 points Wednesday despite needing four stitches from a black eye sustained hours before tip-off that had his status in doubt.
"When I first did it, I went in there and they told me I won't be playing," Olynyk said. "Then when I went in to see the doctor, they wanted to dilate my eye, but your vision would be blurry. I told them not to because I wanted to play. They sewed it up. I came back and wanted to give it a try."
Ersan Ilyasova scored 16 points and Khris Middleton added 14 on Wednesday for the Bucks, who are seeing their advantage dwindle for a once-likely playoff berth. The Celtics, also battling for one of the Eastern Conference's final spots, are three games behind them.
"Any win, no matter at what point here or there, can help," coach Jason Kidd said.
Bucks reserve guard Jerryd Bayless returns to Boston for the first time since he played 41 games for the Celtics last season before becoming a free agent.
Milwaukee dropped its final 14 road games last season.
