The Cleveland Browns tried out two kickers on Tuesday amidst some struggles by veteran Billy Cundiff.

Trying out for the Browns were Zach Hocker, a seventh-round pick of the Washington Redskins last spring, and Michael Barnard, a journeyman who's had a variety of NFL tryouts and stints with indoor teams.

Hocker was cut by the Redskins at the end of training camp.

Cundiff, who's 21-of-27 on field goals for the season, has missed a field goal in each of the last four games. He was 21-of-26 last season, his first full season with the Browns.

The Browns also tried out running back Shaun Draughn Tuesday. Draughn, who turns 27 next week, has played with the Chiefs, Ravens, Bears and Chargers. He was with the Chiefs when Browns general manager Ray Farmer was in Kansas City.

The news out of Browns Headquarters most have been waiting for involves the quarterbacks. The unofficial depth chart that came as part of the team's standard weekly game release Tuesday listed an asterisk and said the starter is "TBA."

On Monday, Browns coach Mike Pettine said he wasn't yet ready to name a starter between incumbent Brian Hoyer and rookie Johnny Manziel, who replaced Hoyer late in last Sunday's loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Several reports have linked the Browns to wide receiver Duron Carter, son of Hall of Famer Cris Carter. Duron Carter's Canadian Football League contract has expired, and he told Yahoo! Sports he talked to Farmer in what's expected to be the first of many meetings with NFL teams.

The 23-year old Carter started at Ohio State, then spent time at Alabama, Florida Atlantic and in junior college before landing in the CFL with the Montreal Alouettes. The 6'5 Carter is rehabbing an ankle injury and told Yahoo! he plans to hold a pro day-type workout for interested teams in January at his high school in Florida.

The first day Carter can sign with an NFL team is Feb. 10. He'll be considered a rookie under NFL contract and free agency rules.
