Browns host Bills in lone prime time game
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Browns have their 2013 regular season schedule.
Per usual, they open at home. This year, the opponent is the Miami Dolphins on Sept. 8.
Then it's off to Baltimore in what will be the Ravens' first home game as reigning Super Bowl champions.
If it wasn't for terrible luck, the Browns might not have any at all.
But the Browns do start a three-game homestand vs. the Bengals on Sept. 29. That stretch also includes their lone scheduled national TV appearance against Buffalo on Oct. 3 and an Oct. 13 home game vs. Detroit.
Those games seem winnable, right? The bye week is in a good spot, too, on Nov. 10 -- or nine games into the 16-game schedule. The Browns will welcome the rest and come out of the bye week with a trip to Cincinnati.
Five of the nine games before the bye week are against playoff teams from a year ago.
The NFC North opponents are spread throughout the schedule. The Browns go to Minnesota early, face a tough trip to Green Bay the week after the Lions game and host the Bears on Dec. 15.
That game comes a week after a trip to New England.
The Browns host Pittsburgh on Nov. 24, the week before Thanksgiving, and play at Heinz Field in the Dec. 29 season finale.
Maybe the stadium name change -- it's now First Energy Stadium -- will help the Browns change their opening day luck. They're 1-12 in home openers since returning to the NFL in 1999; the lone win came over the Ravens in 2004.
